A Cure for Love (The Remedia Amoris)

The focus of Valentine's Day is always on that of finding or being in love, and that focus never being on unrequited love. Now, I'm not trying to give a negative perspective on love or the celebration of love on days like Valentine's Day. I only want to remind everyone that being broken-hearted is as common as being in love. So, for those that are spending Valentine's Day as the owner of a sad heart instead of a happy one; know that you are not alone, and there is a cure.

The poet Ovid wrote The Remedia Armoris. This cure for love is as tried and true as any advice from your friend, parents, therapist, or pet. So read, laugh, commiserate, enjoy, cry, and repeat as needed.

The inspiration of this short perspective post comes from the want and desire to always attempt to see the world through a different lens. On February 14th, it is hard to see the through all of the pink hearts, chocolates, and red roses in order to find that other perspective. But, no matter if you can or can't see through this heart-shaped filter, know that on this day, the person sitting next to you, in the car next to you in traffic, or anyone you might pass by, may not be in love or loved back. So share what love you have to give with all those around you. You will appreciate it, and so will they.

Until then. We all do have Ovid's The Remedia Armoris.

Love,
Brad A.
