You broke your business model!

You know that secret formula (ratio)? The one that every business has (or thinks they have)? For example: For every 25 people in the store you get 1 sale.  25:1. Not bad. Oh, but it turns out that based on the average sale you are going to need 100 sales....per day.

No problem. Let's just calculate our secret formula...you only need to pack 2,500 people into your store each day. Done. Easy. Not so fast.

Turns out that your store can't hold more than 50 people at a time - and your 5 person staff can only support 20 customer per hour.  More and more math test questions come out, ratios abound, forecasts dance, and before you know it....you broke your business model.

Sometimes the ratio works in the beginning, but many factors need to continuously be considered moving forward. Don't hang your hat on that secret formula permanently. Just like many aspects in business (and life), you have to keep checking to make sure that what worked yesterday still works today, and will continue to work tomorrow.
