Problem. Problem Solver. Decide.

You know that piece of trash on the floor? Yes, the one that everyone keeps walking over, or by, or around. Even worse, everyone just complains about all of the trash no one is picking up.

You keep asking yourself why no one will do anything about it.  You see it.  Maybe no one else sees it. Or they ignore it.  Maybe they are just too busy? Then you realize, you aren't doing anything about it either.  This is when you make a decision.

Of course this is not just about a piece of trash on the floor.  This is about any issue/problem that you can help solve.  You can choose to not see it or ignore it if you want. You can join the chorus and complain about it. Or, you can choose to do something about it.

Now don't get carried away and expect a hero's parade. Solving problems that aren't visible in the first place typically are not rewarded. The reward is from you, to you. However, in my experience, I have made the decision to help solve a problem and my reward has been a new job and/or role within the area the problem existed.  Depending on your area of interest and/or expertise, this can be a very good thing for you and your career. Not to mention valuable experience and exposure to fixing things versus just maintenance mode.

Do you see a problem?  Avoid it? Ignore it?  Complain about it? Do something about it?

Stop making excuses. Decide -- and the sooner the better.
